Mark's two cents

Here's my two cents. I am so excited to have Matthew finally here with us and to know that Natalie is on her way to recovery. Thank the Lord.

He's Here! Our Fifth Little Monkey - March 23, 2008

Hi everyone. Here is the story of our Matthew.... After about a week of off and on again labor pains (how ironic now that I think about that) we had even been to the hospital friday afternoon only to be sent home. Ouch. Finally sunday (easter morning, I think that is so cool) my water broke at about 1:30 am and I mean broke it was gushing everywhere. I was so excited this was finally it. We got to the hospital and when the nurse checked me she got a real worried look on her face and said "This baby is head down, right?" And I said "Well he should be, no one has told me any different". Then the nurse said "Well, I'm not feeling a head." So she went to make a phone call, they brought in an ultrasound machine and much to my chagrin, sure enough our little guy was coming bottom first. The next thing I know they were getting me ready for an emergency c-section. And I have to say the whole thing has been as awful as I imagined it to be. I've had a real hard time coming to terms with the birth. I was so excited to push my baby out. It is such a rush! C-sections not so much. Just scary and painful. So instead of pushing my baby out and having them lay him on my chest, they tied me to a table, cut him out and wisked him away. It was three hours later when I finally got to hold him. I've cried a river about that one. I think I'm finally coming to terms with it though. At least he is here, healthy and safe and sound. Mark says he's not a diver (ha ha). So at 4:22 easter morning Matthew Charles backed his way into this world. Bottoms Up!! He weighed 7lbs. 11 oz. (our biggest) and was 21 1/2 inches long. He is a very good, easy going baby so far. Knock on Wood. We are so thankful he is part of our family. We love him!!!
